Paignton Sailing Club is predominantly a dinghy racing club and is host to some prestigious open and national meetings.
The Club provides a spring, summer and winter race programme along with a number of special events. All racing takes place in Torbay's sheltered waters and is professionally run by a race officer with marks laid according to wind strength and direction. During January, February and March the less formal Snowman and Snowdrop series are run on a self-help basis- all are welcome.
Some events are open to sailors from other clubs so why not bring your boat down and sample some of the best winds in Devon, or better still become a member - temporary membership is available if you fancy some pleasant summer sailing whilst on holiday.
Classes raced include Albacores, Fireballs, Lasers, Laser 2000s, RS 600s, Blazes, Toppers and Fast, Medium and Novice handicap.
Racing starts 10:30am on Sundays and 6:30pm on Wednesdays (There are some exceptions so keep an eye on the website).
Paignton Sailing Club is a recognised RYA training centre and we run a series of training throughout the year. Most popular is Junior sailing (Stage 1 to 4.) By request we can run adult beginner, day sailing, seamanship skills, performance sailing, race training and spinnaker courses with a minimum of 6 people.
There is also supervised sailing provided on a Friday evenings, during the summer months, and Saturday sailing from April to December. These sessions are open to anyone who wishes to gain more experience with a safety boat on the water and experienced club members available to help.
We also provide power boat level 1 and 2 and safety boat courses. First aid and radio operators licence courses are available periodically when required.
